Hashtag generator
Click a hashtag to add or remove it
Type the topic of your post and pick the platform. The generator builds hashtags from your topic, like #homeworkouts, #homeworkoutstips and #homeworkoutsforbeginners, adds the platform's own tags where they help, and picks the right number to start with: 5 for Instagram and TikTok, 3 for YouTube Shorts. Click any hashtag to add or remove it, then copy.
How many hashtags to use
| Platform | Limit | What works |
|---|---|---|
| 5 per post or Reel, since December 2025 | All 5, each specific to the post | |
| TikTok | No hashtag limit, but they count toward the 2,200-character caption | 3 to 5. TikTok mostly reads the caption, the on-screen text and what's said |
| YouTube Shorts | More than 60 and YouTube ignores all of them | 3. The first three show above the title |
Pick specific over popular
A hashtag with millions of posts puts your video in a feed it won't stand out in. Narrower tags, like your topic plus "for beginners" or "tips", reach people who are looking for exactly that. Check each tag on the platform before you use it: look at what's posted under it, and skip any that are full of spam or unrelated videos.
Hashtags for every clip
ClipFlame writes a caption and hashtags for each clip it cuts, separately for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, based on what was said in the clip.
Common questions
How many hashtags should I use on Instagram?
Up to 5. Since December 2025, Instagram allows at most 5 hashtags per post or Reel, including any in the first comment.
How many hashtags should I use on YouTube Shorts?
Three is plenty. The first three show above the title, and YouTube ignores all hashtags on a video with more than 60.
Do hashtags still work on TikTok?
They help a little. TikTok mostly reads the caption, the on-screen text and what's said, so 3 to 5 specific hashtags are enough.
Is the hashtag generator free?
Yes. Type a topic, pick a platform, and copy the tags, with no sign-up.
