YouTube money calculator
Enter your daily views, the format and your niche. The calculator multiplies your views by a typical RPM (what YouTube pays you per 1,000 views) and shows a low-to-high range per day, month and year. Long videos usually earn $1 to $10 per 1,000 views, and finance and business channels can reach $10 to $30. Shorts earn about $0.04 to $0.10 per 1,000 views, roughly a tenth to a thirtieth of long-form. If you know your own RPM, enter it for an exact figure.

The ranges come from creator-reported 2026 data compiled by vidIQ and by AIR Media-Tech, whose study of 274 channels found Shorts RPM at 3–14% of the same channel's long-form RPM.
RPM vs CPM
- CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. It's higher, because it counts YouTube's share too.
- RPM is what you earn per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and counting views that showed no ad. It's the number that matters, and it's in YouTube Studio under Analytics → Revenue.
Why Shorts pay so much less
Long videos carry ads before and during the video, and you keep 55% of that revenue. Shorts revenue comes from ads shown between Shorts in the feed. It's pooled, split by each creator's share of views, and you keep 45%. Most channels need tens of thousands of Shorts views to earn what 1,000 long-form views earn. Shorts are better for growth than for income: use them to bring viewers to your long videos. More in YouTube Shorts monetization.
What you need before YouTube pays
Ad revenue needs the YouTube Partner Program: 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million public Shorts views in the last 90 days.
Grow the views first
The quickest way to grow views is to post more from what you've already recorded. ClipFlame turns each long video into a week of Shorts, then schedules them for the best time to post on YouTube.
